Local landscapers for Newcastle homes
Global Outdoor Design builds driveways, patios, fencing and gardens for homeowners in Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton, Fenham, Kenton and every part of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Every job starts with a free visit to your home. We measure up, look at levels, drainage and access, show you samples and talk through what will suit the house and your budget. You then get a clear written quote. When we start, the old surface is dug out and a solid base is built before anything new goes down, so the finish lasts.
- Close to home
- Our Morpeth base is a short drive from every part of the city.
- Proper groundwork
- Dig-out, compacted sub-base and edging done right.
- Drainage planned in
- Permeable surfaces and falls that keep water off your drive.
- Clear, written quotes
- An itemised price and a timescale up front, with no hard sell.
Front gardens that work harder
Many Newcastle homes have a small front garden and nowhere to park. A well-planned driveway can give you off-street parking, a clean path to the door and a tidy border, while keeping rainwater draining the right way.
If your front garden opens onto a classified road, or you need a dropped kerb, the kerb itself has to be approved by Newcastle City Council. We’ll explain what applies to your home when we visit.
- Parking for one or two cars
- Permeable resin or block paving
- Advice on dropped kerbs and planning

Newcastle questions
Quick answers to the questions we get asked most.
Can’t see your question? Get in touch or call 0191 245 5045.
Do you cover my part of Newcastle?
Yes. We work across Newcastle upon Tyne, including Gosforth, Jesmond, Heaton, Fenham, Kenton, Westerhope, Benton, Walker, Kingston Park and Newcastle Great Park, plus nearby Ponteland, Gateshead and North Tyneside.
Do I need planning permission for a driveway in Newcastle?
Usually not if the surface is permeable, like resin-bound or permeable block paving, or if water drains onto a lawn or border. Laying a non-permeable surface over 5 square metres in a front garden normally needs permission. Homes in conservation areas, including parts of Jesmond and Gosforth, may have extra rules, so we’ll check with you before we start.
Can you arrange a dropped kerb?
A dropped kerb (vehicle crossing) has to be approved by Newcastle City Council, and the work on the pavement is carried out by an approved contractor. We’ll talk you through the process and build your driveway to line up with it.
How much does a driveway or patio cost in Newcastle?
It depends on the size of the area, the materials you choose and how much groundwork is needed. We’ll measure up on a free visit and give you a clear written quote, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
How soon can you visit?
We usually arrange a visit within a few days of your enquiry, at a time that suits you. Call 0191 245 5045 or send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch.
