Driveway and landscaping specialists for Sunderland
Global Outdoor Design builds resin driveways, block paving, patios, fencing and complete gardens for homeowners in Roker, Seaburn, Fulwell, Ashbrooke, Washington, Houghton-le-Spring and across Sunderland.
Every project starts with a free visit. We measure up, check levels, drainage and access, and bring samples so you can see the finish before you decide. You get a clear written quote, and when work starts the old surface is dug out and a solid, compacted base goes down first, so your new driveway or patio stays level for years.

- Smooth permeable resin or hard-wearing block paving, laid properly.

- Strong fencing and well-drained surfaces for exposed, windy gardens.

- An itemised price and timescale up front, with no hard sell.
Resin or block paving for your Sunderland home?
Resin-bound driveways give a smooth, modern finish that is permeable, so rain drains straight through and planning is usually simpler. Block paving is tough under cars and vans, comes in lots of patterns and colours, and individual blocks can be lifted if a repair is ever needed.
If you need a dropped kerb for a new driveway, the kerb has to be approved by Sunderland City Council. Homes in conservation areas, such as parts of Ashbrooke and Roker, may have extra rules for front gardens. We’ll explain what applies when we visit.

Sunderland questions
Quick answers to the questions we get asked most.
Can’t see your question? Get in touch or call 0191 245 5045.
Do you cover my part of Sunderland?
Yes. We work across Sunderland, including Roker, Seaburn, Fulwell, Ashbrooke, Barnes, Millfield, Pallion, Southwick, Hylton, Doxford Park, Silksworth, Ryhope, Washington and Houghton-le-Spring.
How much does a resin driveway cost in Sunderland?
It depends on the size of the drive, how much dig-out is needed, the resin and aggregate you choose and any borders or drainage. We’ll measure up on a free visit and give you a clear written quote.
Do I need planning permission for a driveway?
Usually not if the surface is permeable, like resin-bound or permeable block paving, or if water drains onto a lawn or border. A non-permeable surface over 5 square metres in a front garden normally needs permission, and conservation areas can have extra rules.
Can you arrange a dropped kerb?
Dropped kerbs are approved by Sunderland City Council and the pavement work is carried out by an approved contractor. We’ll talk you through the process and build your driveway to line up with it.
What fencing works best near the coast?
In exposed gardens near the sea, strong posts set in concrete, concrete gravel boards and sturdy close-board or slatted panels stand up best to the wind. We’ll recommend the right option for your garden.
